RSW: Introduction to Federal Legal Research

RSW: Introduction to Federal Legal Research

What are Jurisdiction and Authority and why are they vitally important?  How is the federal court system structured? How do the Federal Register and the Code of Federal Regulations interact? Know the differences between the United States Code, the United States Code Annotated and the United States Code Service? Learn about the major sources used in Federal legal research. (50 min)

Advance registration is required. If you register for a session and cannot attend, please remember to cancel your reservation.

While it is not required, as the Instructor will likely be discussing sources found on Bloomberg Law, LexisAdvance, and / or Westlaw, you might want to bring a laptop and sign-on information to the RSW.

If no one registers for this class, it will be canceled 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time.

If you register for this class and find that you will be unable to attend, please use the appropriate link in the confirmation email (from reference@nyls.edu) to cancel your registration.  Doing so will open a seat for a classmate who otherwise might not have been able to attend.
